Yes, it’s Ride for Dad weekend – Saturday I get to lead 2,000 motorcycles through Ottawa and the surrounding area to raise money and awareness for the fight against prostate cancer. You can donate to that cause here! If you like.

Or, if you prefer, you can come out to attend one of the two wrestling promotions I’ll be attending, bookending the Ride For Dad on Friday night in Smiths Falls and Saturday night here in Ottawa.

So first off, we’ve got a Friday night event in Smiths Falls, starring Brutus the Barber Beefcake. Which should appeal to everyone over the age of 40 who loved wrestling as a kid. It also stars local wrestling star Hannibal, who I believe has a hand in all Ottawa wrestling events the way John Gotti had a hand in all NYC sanitation contracts…not saying he’s a CRIMINAL. Just that he’s everywhere.

Also appearing are my buddy Mike, who is a cop in Smiths Falls and also a bodybuilder. Two things that go together like NASCAR and road rage. Side note: If you’re a bodybuilder, you have no choice but to also be a wrestler. It is the only venue that gives you the appropriate outlet for flexing. Otherwise, you will really annoy the other guys in the locker room, and the people in your house. And probably your mirrors.

Also wrestling will be a Smiths Falls city councillor, which will be appealing to everyone who is a rural municipal politics fanatic. And making an appearance will be John Chatwood of our sister station JACK-FM. John can’t be much of a wrestler, and I have no idea what his part will be in the event. But after I made fun of his moustache a couple of weeks ago in Toronto, he HAS threatened to hit me with a chair. So that might happen.

Then there’s Saturday night. Hopefully, I make it there in time after a full day of Ride for Dad events, because I guess I’m to be the ‘guest referee’ for a match with…once again…Brutus ‘The Barber’ Beefcake. And Hannibal will be there also. Because he’s the John Gotti of Ottawa wrestling. In fact, it’s pretty much the same lineup as the previous night in Smiths Falls, but presumably with an additional day of bad blood to be sorted out.

The only difference is the one that made the news – suspended senator Patrick Brazeau will be there. I guess you’ve gotta keep busy when you’re waiting to see the results of the three criminal cases pending against you. It seems he will be officiating another match, and not actually getting involved in the ‘wrestling’ portion of the show. Which is probably a good idea for him, considering how well his foray into ‘boxing’ went with Justin Trudeau three years ago this Sunday…

So there are your options for Saturday. Ride For Dad? Wrestling? (There’s also that Monster Truck thing we’ve been doing all week.) Maybe you can do all of it. I will!
