Donald Trump might want to consider hiring a team of songwriters to create some original tunes for him because he keeps running into trouble using rock songs for his presidential campaign. Neil Young didn’t like it, nor did the former members of R.E.M., and even though Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler counts himself as one of Trumps friends, he called the lawyers when The Donald started using his band’s hit “Dream On”.

Tyler says it’s not about politics and who he supports or is buddies with, it’s about copyrights and getting permission from the author of a song before using it in a campaign. He is the author of the song and has spent a lot of time working with the U.S. Government on copyright reform. Trump tells reporters that he paid for the rights to use “Dream On” but he will stop playing the song. Not because he received two cease-and-desist notices from Tyler’s lawyers but because of his personal relationship with the singer.

He says he will continue to use the other songs that he’s been rotating, including Twisted Sister‘s “We’re Not Gonna Take It”.
