Just after midnight today (Tuesday November 10), legendary New Orleans R&B musician, songwriter and record producer Allen Toussaint died of a heart attack at the age of 77.

Toussaint’s music has been covered by so many artists, like the Rolling Stones, Yardbirds and The Who. He produced for or played with hundreds of musicians including Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Robert Palmer and Paul Simon. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 1998.

True to form, Toussaint was on the road in Europe when he died. He played his last show in Madrid on Sunday November 8 and had 2 gigs scheduled before his trip home to the States later this month.
