Paul Kantner has died

Paul Kantner, guitarist, vocalist and founding member of Jefferson Airplane has died at the age of 74 of multiple organ failure following a heart attack earlier this week.

Kantner and Marty Balin formed the band in the mid-60’s in San Francisco. Their original concept of a folk-rock group took a psychedelic turn when the members discovered LSD. In 1974, Kantner was also co-founder of Jefferson Starship, a spin-off group which he later left over disagreements about musical direction. He returned to the band in the 90’s.
