October’s Local Legend is Mark Saunders, Director of Fun for three decades at Saunders Farm.

This season is their 30th celebrating Fun & Frights in the capital region and they have big plans to keep us coming back for more.

Back in 1992, Bill and Anne Saunders started their own Fall festival with a Haunted Hayride, Haunted Barn and other Farm related activities. With friends and family helping out, they because the area’s number one destination for Haunting Season and Frightfest! Of course, now we can enjoy Saunders Farm year round with other holiday highlights among other special events. Over 1.3 million satisfied guests have visited the farm over the years and it truly has become a family tradition for many.

As Mark explains, the energy and thought put into the Farm’s constant evolution makes it a fresh and exciting experience for guests old and new. Plus, the pandemic downtime gave them some extra time to prepare BIG additions to the 100 acre playground in Munster, which is just over 30 minutes by car from downtown Ottawa.

The Haunted Hayride is all new this season.

“As a fan favourite from the very beginning, the hayride has been transformed this year with leading edge sound and light technologies.”

Earlier this spring, the family announced a new business venture in Saunders Cider!  You can visit the Ciderhouse taproom in the Log Barn to sample their new hard Ciders and delicious foods

The most recent addition would have to be the two 600ft Ziplines which take guests zooming over the Mile Maze and ponds.

Planning your visit to Saunders Farm? Here are some important notes for October:

  • Pumpkin Season runs on weekends from September 25-October 31 and features hedge Mazes, Jumbo Jumpers, pumpkins, hayrides, two 600ft Ziplines, the new Ciderhouse Taproom and over 35 attractions.
