Police guitarist Andy Summers has just rolled out a 30-date North American tour backed by The Cracked Lens + A Missing String. The trek kicks off on July 21st at Beverly, Massachusetts’ Cabot Theater and runs through November 12th when the tour wraps at Calgary’s Grand Theatre

According to the tour announcement:

Andy Summers will be incorporating his collective works into an insightful evening spanning his career where he will play guitar and improvise to several sequences of his photography shot worldwide, read excerpts from his book of short stories Fretted And Moaning, share insights on his music and photography including his most recent photography book A Series Of Glances, and also perform selections from his extensive solo catalog.

Although his solo work has always had a strong global following, Andy Summers will always be best loved for his years with Sting and Stewart Copeland as part of the Police. Summers explained what it was about the band that set them apart from their contemporaries: [“It was the personal chemistry of the three of us. Three very intense people determined to succeed at all costs, willing to work extremely hard. Very talented songwriter, y’know, great arrangements, y’know, and very different sounding than other bands.”] SOUNDCUE (:13 OC: . . . than other bands)
