Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament has offered an update on his band’s new album.

During an appearance on the Kyle Meredith With… podcast, Ament said that the band feels as though they’ve “earned the right to do whatever the f*ck” they want on their next album, but explained that it isn’t quite done and “doesn’t feel like a record yet”.

The comments come just two weeks after Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard shared that their new album is “close to the finish line”.

Ament also stated that the new album is expected out in 2024. “I think everybody hopes that we have a record out next year. If we have a record out next year, that means we’ll probably play a few more shows, and I think there’s a couple places we haven’t played in quite a while, so I think we have stuff penciled in.”
