We made this the subject of one of our polls today. Mayim Bialik, star of The Big Bang Theory, explains why she thinks we should stop referring to adult women as “girls”:

Food for thought: Mayim Bialik has a PhD in neuroscience from UCLA, and actually helps advise on the show when it comes to some of the science stuff. She was nominated for four consecutive Emmy awards for her work on the show. Her salary is 20% of the salary of her male co-stars. The five main stars of The Big Bang Theory recently ASKED for a pay cut to help address the disparity between themselves and their female co-stars who are now as big a part of the show as are they (Bialik and Melissa Rauch, who plays Bernadette, specifically).
