Glenn Frey

Eagles were to be recognized for their artistic achievements during the Kennedy Center Honors on December 6, but the band’s portion of the ceremony has been postponed because Glenn Frey is facing major surgery.

Frey has had internal issues for many years and believes the problem dates back to the raucous early years of his band. In 1990, doctors removed a portion of his intestine and in 1994, a bout of diverticulitis forced him off the road during the Eagles’ Hell Freezes Over tour.

The Kennedy Center Honors will continue as planned with singer-songwriter Carole King, actress and singer Rita Moreno, filmmaker George Lucas and others being recognized, and a special ceremony will take place next year so Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmidt can all attend.
