September 28th & 29th we hosted our annual Turkey Drop in support of the Ottawa Mission’s Thanksgiving dinner, and we want to say THANK YOU! Thank you to all who helped spread the world, donated and of course, who dropped off a frozen turkey to us to be delivered to the The Ottawa Mission!

Our goal, was to help with their goal of collecting 80-90 turkeys and boy, did you come through! In just two days alone there were 62 20lb. frozen turkeys dropped off here and we can’t thank you enough!

More about the Ottawa Mission and their Annual Thanksgiving dinner:

This special event provides a special holiday turkey dinner for those who are homeless or hungry in the community on Thanksgiving weekend. Once again this year, The Mission is appealing for community donations to ensure there’s food for everyone. This event last year served just over 2,700 plates of delicious turkey dinner!

“It takes between 80-90 very large turkeys to feed everyone who comes to our special Thanksgiving Dinner,” says Chef Ric Watson, Manager of Food Services at The Ottawa Mission. “Our kitchen volunteers and staff are cooking for quite a few days before the holiday meal to ensure everyone will have a delicious turkey dinner.”

Financial donations can be made online at ottawamission.com, over the phone or in person. Frozen turkey donations can be dropped off at any time at The Ottawa Mission’s front desk, located at 35 Waller St.  Arrangements can also be made to have turkey donations picked up by calling 613-234-1144, ext 248.
