The Toronto Maple Leafs’ parent company, MLSE, has filed an opposition to the trademark application for Snoop Dogg’s logo. This is the logo Snoop uses on his line of marijuana products, sold mainly in Colorado. These include eight strains of marijuana flower including ‘Blueberry Dream’, ‘Cali Kush’ and ‘Northern Lights’.

It is not yet known exactly what the Leafs’ claim will be – it could be the ‘fame’ of the Leaf (hockey) logo, or a claim that Snoop’s logo will cause ‘confusion in the marketplace’. Or, maybe, they will claim that the grammatical error ‘Leafs’ is the sole property of Toronto hockey, and that any intentional mis-spelling of ‘leaves’ constitutes copyright infringement. Who knows?
