kkk

Once a terrifying force of brutal racist evil, the KKK is now a lame force that might actually constitute a necessary evil.

Take this recent confederate flag ‘debate’. Anyone who has any sense at all of that flag’s history understands it to be a racist symbol. There’s no doubt. But to some, that doesn’t matter because heritage and tradition. I’m not racist, see, I just love the flag because I’m from the South and to me it just means barbecue. They refuse to see the flag as a racist symbol because they fly one on their house or wear one on their pants or love The Dukes of Hazzard. It’s an absurd example of circular logic – I’m not racist, and I love the flag, therefore the flag cannot be racist.

There are also those who remain sitting on the fence on the issue – well, I get that Lynyrd Skynyrd used to use it as a representation simply of the south…but I also get that it was specifically brought back to oppress black people…so I’m not sure…

Enter the KKK. A few days ago, they showed up to protest the removal of the confederate flag from the state grounds in South Carolina. While there, they engaged in typical KKK behaviour, yelling at black protesters, digging deep into their treasure trove of racist tropes and yelling points.

So…anyone think the KKK was protesting the removal of the flag because of its heritage and tradition? Or is it more plausible that they’re protesting it because of its racist heritage and tradition? When the KKK shows up en masse to protest something, there can no longer be a debate about whether or not it’s racist. Debate over. Oh, you’re still on the fence about the flag? Look – the KKK. You still want to believe it’s only a symbol attached the the Dukes‘ car? Hey, check it out over there – it’s the KKK!

This is why the KKK now provide an essential service. Whenever there is a debate that has anything to do with race, check to see what side the KKK has chosen in that debate. That is the racist side. Choose the other side, and you will be right. Problem solved!
